Wanted:   Stories for the newsletter.  How about telling us about a memorable contact, your favorite VVARC memory, etc.   Here is a story as an example

The High and the Low   Over 10 years ago, while driving south down the hill on a summer’s Saturday evening, we heard a ham talking about reaching the summit of Mt. Baldy.  He and his buddy were building an Igloo for a shelter.  Yes, there was enough snow to do that in the summer that year.   Well, the next day, we were driving north on 395, heading for the Sierras.  When we heard the same young ham again, and no one came back to him, I decided to talk to him.   He said that the igloo was fine, until there were some rain and it melted a little.  It must have been about 30  minutes later when we heard another ham ask for a radio check.   I replied.  This guy was in Death Valley, and wasn’t getting any replies on his packet set-up.  I suggested maybe that was because it was fairly early Sunday morning.   After we finished a short conversation, we realized that in less than an hour, we had talked to someone very high, around 10,000 feet I’d guess, and someone very low, around sea level, both on the Table Mountain 2 meter repeater.  Pretty rare, we decided.   Virginia  KD6YLT
